Basics of Tarot

The Tarot Cards
As mysterious and magical they may be, they are only a tool that we use for the purpose of divination, and for the purpose of soul growth and enlightenment. The Tarot ignites our psychic abilities and intuitive senses opening us up to explore expanded states of consciousness. When we decide to use the Tarot Cards, we should be mentally, spiritually and emotionally open-minded.

The Classic 78 cards Tarot Deck:
The classic tarot deck has 78 cards with two main parts, the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana.

The Major Arcana consist of 22 cards which are numbered “0 to 21”.

The Minor Arcana consist of 56 cards which are divided into four suits, (much like the traditional playing cards).
Each suit has numbered cards 1-10 and 4 Court cards, which are the Page, Knight, Queen, and King

“Arcana”
Is a plural term (the singular form is Arcanum) that refers to collections of secret wisdom.

The Major Arcana consists of the twenty-two cards that form the spiritual and philosophical core of the Tarot. The cards of the Minor Arcana resemble those of a regular pack of playing cards, having four suits and a set of court cards; the Minor Arcana cards are more concerned with the affairs of everyday life.

The Major Arcana = Tends to portray life changing events that affect our psyche. The Major Arcana consist of 22 cards which are numbered “0 to 21”. Each of the Major Arcana cards tells a story or conveys a message. The Major Arcana depicts the different stages of life we must go through until our souls journey is complete. At one time or another we all must go through each stage of the Major Arcana. We encounter several beginnings and endings throughout our lifetime that are represented by the archetypes portrayed on the cards. The Major Arcana represent more significant events or decisions practically, emotionally and spiritually.

The Minor Arcana = Portrays day-to-day events and seems to be less dramatic. The Minor Arcana consist of 56 cards.
These cards are divided into four suits of fourteen cards each. Each suit contains ten numbered cards and four court cards.
The Minor Arcana is more concerned with the affairs of everyday life. These suits correlate to the four basic elements of life: fire, earth, air, and water.

Again, the Minor Arcana is broken into four suits similar to the modern playing deck of cards we use today.
The Court cards in each suit consist of; a Page, a Knight, a Queen, and a King each portraying people, or sometimes events.
(In the modern playing deck, the Pages combined with the Knights to form the Jack and the Fool is the Joker).

The Four Suits are:
Wands (clubs)  Cups (hearts)  Swords (spades)  Pentacles (diamonds)

In a Soldiers Words

About 10 years ago I received an e-mail and had held onto it.  I felt with all that is happening in the world now, it would be a good time to let it circulate again.

There’s a famous story concerning a soldier and his deck of cards that is believed to date back to the seventeenth century.

Richard Middleton was found looking at a deck of cards in church, and was taken to the mayor to explain his action. He explained to the mayor that the “pack of cards is both Bible, Almanac and Prayer book to me”.  He proved it by demonstrating how each card was somehow connected with the Bible.

The Ace represents one. It reminds us that there is only one God.

The Two represents the two parts of the Bible; Old and New Testaments.

The Three represents the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

The Four stands for the Four Apostles: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

The Five is for the five virgins that were ten but only five of them were glorified.

The Six is for the six days it took God to create the Heavens and Earth.

The Seven is for the day God rested after working the six days.

The Eight is for the family of Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives, in whom God saved the eight people from the flood that destroyed the earth for the first time.

The Nine is for the lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy. He cleansed ten but nine never thanked him.

The Ten represents the Ten Commandments that God handed down to Moses on the tablets made of stone.

The Jack is a reminder of Satan. On of God’s first angels, but he got kicked out of heaven for his sly and wicked ways and is now the joker of eternal hell.

The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary.

The King stands for Jesus, for he is the King of all kings.

“ Note” In the 1950’s Wink Martindale, Tex Morton, and several other country music singers recorded this story as a song called “Deck of Cards”.

The Seven Subtle Bodies

At the request of several clients, I am only touching on the subject of the Seven Subtle Bodies. I was asked if I could give any information about it and/or if I could refer any web-sites or books to my clients to better educate them about this subject. Therefore, those who are interested, please visit the following web-sites listed below for more in depth information:

The “Kheper” – Transformation – Evolution – Metamorphosis web-site, I find this to be an excellent web-site! It’s very detailed.  The information given is written according to Barbara Brennan from her book “Hands of Light.”  Psychic Sisters and Spiritual Experiences are also informative web-sites.

In parapsychology and many forms of spiritual practice an aura is a series of subtle bodies behind the physical body. It’s a field of subtle light which surrounds a person and this subtle body is said to consist of “elements” or organs such as centers or chakras.

The Seven Subtle Bodies can be broken down as follows:

3 Physical layer bodies

3 Spiritual layer bodies

The Astral body

The astral body is the bridge between the lower and higher bodies.

The lower three bodies,’ process energy dealing with the physical level, whereas the upper three bodies process energy from the spiritual level. It’s said that the energy from the higher planes must pass through the “fire of the heart” – the heart chakra– to reach and be of full use by the lower bodies.

All of the layers of our aura have its own seven chakras which are can be found within the other auric chakras. As the layers extend outwards, the chakras vibrate at higher rate. Therefore the seven chakras within the etheric body will be vibrating at a much lower frequency then the seven chakras within the causal body. Example: the root chakra will have the seven major chakras, all vibrating at different frequencies, this way, energy can be transmuted between all bodies to all chakras.

The Etheric Body

First Layer-Aura

Base/Root Chakra #1

Colors Bluish (emotional) or gray light (highly active)

The Etheric body-aura is the closest energy body to the physical body. The Etheric body-aura is the closest to the physical body and it is considered to be the blueprint upon which the cells and organs are built.  The etheric body extends one quarter to two inches beyond the physical body and pulsates at about 15-20 cycles per minute.

The Emotional Body-Aura

Second Layer

Sacral Chakra #2

Colors of all the chakras

The Emotional body-aura is associated with feelings and our sensitivity to those around us. This affects our emotions, of happiness, sadness, anger.  This aura is often the colors that “the highly sensitive people” see around a person. It extends one to three inches from the body.

The Mental Body- Aura

Third Layer

Solar Plexus Chakra #3

Colors reflecting this body are yellow

The Mental body-aura is associated with “Rational Thinking”, our thoughts and mental processes. It extends from three to eight inches (7.5 to 20 cm) from the body.

The Astral Body- Aura

Fourth Layer

Heart Chakra #4

Colors of the rainbow/pink

The Astral body-aura relates to our personality, relationships, compassion and all humanity. It’s the bridge to the spiritual plane. When working with this layer and beyond this layer, our perception, and abilities jump from the physical level to the etheric level. This layer is the layer that we start perceiving energies that are not of this vibrational frequency. It extends out about one half to one foot (15 to 30 cm) from the body.

The Etheric Template Body- Aura

Fifth Layer

Throat Chakra #5

Color Dark blue

The Etheric Template Body-aura is a template for the lower template body (the etheric body, the first layer). This is the template that exists before the formation of the physical body. It extends from about one and one half to two feet (45 to 60 cm) from the body. It is said that this layer is an important layer in healing and can be seen only by clairvoyants and very advanced healers.

The Celestial Body- Aura

Sixth Layer

Brow/Third Eye Chakra #6

Radiant Pastel colors

The Celestial body-aura is the emotional level of the spiritual plane, called the celestial body, or the soul. This layer is where a person will feel things such as pure spiritual bliss. It extends about two to two and a half feet (60 to 75 cm) from the body.

The Ketheric Template/Causal Body- Aura

Seventh Layer

Crown Chakra #7

Colors Gold or silvery-gold

The Casual body-aura is the mental level of the spiritual plane called the Ketheric template. This layer also contains the main Kundalini force that runs up and down the body. It is our direct connection to GOD. It extends from about two and one half to three and one half feet (75 to 105 cm) from the body.

The Seven Crystal System

Since previously talking about the number seven, I felt compelled to continue with the “Seven Crystal System” relating it to the Seven Chakras.  I am only touching on the Seven Crystal System with basic information, as this is not an area of my expertise.

Although if you’re interested in this crystal system and would like to further your studies, I would highly recommend you purchase the book called, “Spiritual Value of Gem Stones written by Wally and Jenny Richardson and Lenora Huett, and also the book “The Complete Illustrated Guide to Crystal Healing”, written by Simon Lilly, and for detailed pictures go to the Crystal Age Website page “The Seven Crystal System”. (crystalage.com)

Note: some of the information was taken in part/ referenced from the books and website mentioned above.

The Seven Crystal System is a method of classifying crystals according to their atomic lattice or structure. The atomic lattice is a three-dimensional network of atoms that are arranged in a symmetrical pattern. The shape of the lattice determines not only which crystal system the stone belongs to, but all of its physical properties and appearance.

With the exception of Opal, Amber, Moldavite and Obsidian, since they are amorphous – (without shape) all minerals will crystallize within one of the seven basic crystal systems, (Trigonal, Cubic, Hexagonal, Tetragonal, Orthorhombic, Monoclinic, Triclinic), and therefore each system, obeying the Law of Attraction, gathers together those atoms which then vibrate together in unison and harmony, producing a form, a crystal, an aggregation of atoms.

Amorphous has no crystal structure. Most of these are either cooled too quickly to crystallize, such as obsidian or Moldavite, or are organic such as amber. Common Amorphous Minerals: Amber, Moldavite, Obsidian and Opal.

The Trigonal System stones relate to “our bodies foundation”, the 1st chakra, (the root/ the base/ kundalini).  The Trigonal shape crystal gives off energy; it radiates energy useful for balancing the body’s subtle energy, especially where our lack of energy is the problem.

The Cubic System stones are associated with qualities of our bodies movement and flow of energy to enjoy and to explore, to develop emotions and attachments”, the 2nd chakra, (sacral/sexual). The Cubic stone relates to “basic nature”.

The Hexagonal System stones relate to “our bodies control center”, it deals with our energy, giving us the ability to live our lives more productively and in an effective way. The 3rd chakra, (solar plexus) encourages growth, motivation and change.

The Tetragonal System stone is associated with “our bodies balancing of nature”, giving and receiving, positive and negative, our yin and yang. This crystal system can be both absorbing and reflective. The 4th chakra, (heart) is the midpoint of our entire chakra system, (there are three above this chakra and there are three below).

The Orthorhombic System stones relate to “our perspective and focus”, this stones quality is protecting and encompassing. The 5th chakra (throat) deals with communication.

The Monoclinic System stones relate to “expansion and contraction”, these crystals have a pulsating action stabilizing but encouraging to activity on some level. The 6th chakra, (brow/third eye), is the gateway to your higher self and spiritual communication.

The Triclinic System stones relate to “totality and completion” accessing different states of consciousness and finer, nonphysical dimensions. The 7th chakra, (crown) is our connection to the whole of creation.

Please Note: the above information was taken in part/ referenced from both books by; Wally and Jenny Richardson and Lenora Huett, called “Spiritual Value of Gem Stones” and by Simon Lilly, “The Complete Illustrated Guide to, and Crystal Healing” and from The Crystal Age Website. The Number “7”

The Number # 7 and the Chakras

I received a letter in the mail which I found to be quite interesting. So much so, that I wanted to share it with you.

This past July while I was working on my seminar, “Basic Knowledge and Understanding of Intuitive Reading”, a seminar designed to focus on Intuitive readings while introducing many topics in order to open your intuition and provoke individual thought and interpretation. The seminar primarily covers hands on, interactive basic understanding of the Tarot Cards, incorporating colors, chakras, and symbolism with additional subjects being introduced and discussed such as, how ordinary playing cards, crystals, meditation, incense, oils, herbs, flowers, aromatherapy, candles, auras, spirits and other methods of opening your senses interact to enhance tarot card readings. The letter I received in the mail while working on my seminar happened to be a spiritual letter from a ministry. It referred to how many times God uses the number “Seven” in the Bible. How there are “Seven Miracles”, “The Seven Spirits of God” and “The Seven Senses of man.”

You must realize, I was finishing the last section of my seminar which happened to be about “chakras”.  To be specific, I was writing ” how there are over 200 chakras, but there are “7” that we always refer to and work with.”  I thought to myself, what timing to receive such a letter about the number “7”, and how it connected to the topics I am discussing within my lecture.  Not only that, when I finally I agreed to enlighten others with a different approach with my seminar, it was in July. I received the letter on July the 7th.  I finished in the time frame I agreed upon, also in July. As mentioned before, I found this to be interesting and thought you might  too.

There are “Seven Chakras”, “Seven Miracles”, “The Seven Spirits of God” and “The Seven Senses of man.”

The Seven Chakras

7th Crown (purple/violet): located at the top of the head and represents “beginning”.

6th Brow (Indigo): located in the center of the forehead between the eyebrows, it is the gateway to your higher self and spiritual communication.

4th Heart (green): located in the middle of the chest; it is associated with love and compassion.

3rd Solar Plexus (yellow): located where the ribcage meets above the stomach, it forms the creative center, the seat of emotions and autonomy.

2nd Sacral (spleen) (orange): located beneath the navel, it is connected to sexuality and rejuvenation.

1st  Root (red): located at the base of the spine; it grounds us in the physical world.

About Me

I am the owner of La Befana’s “Specialty” Gift Shoppe Inc. formerly located in the Historic Village of Montgomery, New York, and I am in the process of relocating the shop. While looking for a new destination, I built a website as an extension of my store. So please, check it out.

I am an Intuitive-Psychic reader, born in New York and raised as a Roman Catholic. For years I have provided intuitive psychic readings “via” telephone, which are enlightening and informative helping clients to feel a sense of clarity and understanding. I believe that everyone is born with the gift of intuition, but that some are more sensitive and open to it than others. My own awareness began at age five, but at the time was considered to be very “taboo” and was not spoken about.

My Intuitive-Psychic readings are performed over the telephone for several reasons: location is Not an issue, the atmosphere is non-invasive and non-judgmental, and clients are more comfortable and relaxed in their own home or ideal environment.

During my readings, I use a regular deck of cards or tarot cards as a tool to “jump-start” my readings, as well as a pad and pen for automatic writing, but not necessary. I transmit any and all information that is given to me intuitively to my client. What the client chooses to do with this information is entirely their decision. We all have free will and the freedom of choice.

All of my readings are completely private and confidential.

Please feel free to check out my website www.labefanas.com
